Today the website reports of an unpleasant confrontation Hugh Grant had with a photographer. The beauty of this story is that it is entirely compatible with every stereotypical Hugh Grant characterization I've developed in my imagination through the years (i.e. a person embodying that very rare hybrid of haughty, rude, crude, and charming). Hugh's the kind of guy I'd imagine sleeping with a Russian diplomat's wife in a London cab on the way to having tea and biscuits at 3:00 with the Queen and discussing the major works of Lord Byron. If you were to cut him I'd imagine he'd bleed cigarettes and dirty martinis. Anyway, you'll find the whole the story after the cut with extra Hugh Granty bits highlighted (including Hugh calling a man a pussy and smacking him with a folder). Enjoy.
X Factor reject Chico has signed a record deal with Sony BMG. The former goat herder and ex-stripper will release his debut single It's ('Chico Time');" on February 27.
His performance of the song was one of the most memorable moments from the X Factor.
Chico, who was mentored by ('Sharon Osbourne'); said he had been mobbed by fans since appearing on TV. "The whole thing has been unbelievable," he said. "I'm absolutely loving every minute of it, and looking forward to releasing the single at last. Chico is taking part in the nationwide X Factor tour, which kicks off in Newcastle next month.
Firstly, happy Chinese New Year all...year of the dog, woot! woot! thats me! (no idea why thought of being described as a dog is so pride inducing)
A few pressing issues to be discussed: please jump in. (and by 'pressing' i mean all together trivial and inconsequential)
Things to ponder:
a) is desirability of Ruperet Everett as it pertains to movie-going, man loving ladies diminished in any way by fact that he is not sexually attracted to women? (I say no.....entirely ignoring, of course, his participation in any way in the making of "The Next Best Thing")
b) Tom Cruise + Katie Holmes: 1. whats up with that? 2. why, Katie, why!?...And can anyone pin point exactly what it is that makes this couple so inherently creepy?? I can't quite sort out what is at the core of my distaste in this pairing. (other than of course spending far too much time thinking about such things). There's also a daddy dearest angle that irks me...bit like he's taking her under his wing.
A good week for Arctic Monkeys with their debut album breaking all records as being the fastest selling album ever! Of course most of us have had all their MP3's downloaded for ages. The album has already made it in at No. 5 in "The Greatest Albums Of All Time", it's good and but it's not that good.
A bad week for George Galloway and the RESPECT party, he may have avoided the massive legal bill that the Daily Telegraph tried to pin on him, but he has lost all Respect and been given the boot from The Celebrity Big Brother house.
A Bad week for Micheal Jackson photographed as a Muslim woman.
A bad week for Sven Goran Erikson, who will quit as England manager after the World Cup.
And probably the worst week for Chris Penn who was found dead at his home and he was only aged 40.
Oh and the Lib Dems (aka the big fat liars) are having a really bad week too.
According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. OK, so I'm not a Marxist but I do love all things low culture, if you do too then please join, go on you know you want too.
